Whatever the style, the sentence should say what the tool did. “ChatGPT generated the first outline, which I then rewrote” tells the reader everything they need. Vague phrases like “AI was used” do not.

  5. Would you be comfortable showing the full transcript? If not, that is the real signal, and no citation format fixes it.

Keep a simple record as you work

One file, four columns: date, model version, prompt, what you did with the output. Fill it in as you go, because reconstructing it afterwards is unreliable and takes far longer.
